This site is funded via online advertising which has experienced huge growth over the past few years and now accounts for a large percentage of the advertising budgets companies spend on marketing every year.

In exchange for writing great product reviews and buyers guides our authors get the advertising revenue generated from the ads we place in their articles. If you write a great article that people view and use, you'll receive a recurring payment from Google.

What is a Pick List?

A pick list is simply a list of items you've found on the site which you think are cool. You can create lists of anything, from the 'Greatest Films of All Time', to '10 Things Every Boy Scout Needs'. Check out our pick lists section for a few more ideas.

How much will you get paid?

So how much can you expect to earn in commissions? We use Google Adsense to deliver ads related to the content of the articles. Ads are served automatically by Google - the Search Engine sees what the page (your article) is about and shows related ads accordingly. Clever stuff!

So how do I get my money?

Firstly you need to set up a Google Adsense account. If you've already got a Google account (because you've got a gmail email address, or a Google You Tube account etc.) then you can just log in to Google Adsense with these details. Once you're in, you just need to find your 'publisher ID' which you can find in the top right hand corner of your screen, once logged into your adsense account. You can tell us your Google ID in your profile details, or, if you're a pro and have several, you can specify a particular one each time you write an article. This lets Google and us track who's earning what and makes absolutely sure that you and only you gets all the money from the ads in your review. You then give Google your bank details and they'll pay your earnings straight into your account! Or you can give them your address and they'll post you a cheque. (Hehe, it's pretty cool the first time you get a Google cheque sent from America, I can tell you!) You can log in to your Google Adsense account and see how much money you're making at any time.

What if I can't be bothered to set up a Google Adsense account?

Well then you can still write reviews, articles and create pick lists for this site! The world's not all about money, after all! If you're a budding journalist or writer and just want some published/online work to link to/show in your CV, just leave the Google Adsense ID box blank in your profile and when you write your piece or create your pick list.
